Aircraft Acoustical Manufacturing

In response to the requirements of our customers, A.I.M.S. developed a Supplementary Sound Reduction and Complete Aircraft Kit to reduce the noise levels inside their aircraft. Through word of mouth and referrals, additional customers requested the kit. This led to the development of a new group within A.I.M.S. which is the Aircraft Acoustical Manufacturing group. By following the philosophy of providing a unique product and service to its customers, A.I.M.S. developed a turn-key solution for sound reduction that is revolutionary and unique to the industry, and has made A.I.M.S. a leader in Acoustical Manufacturing and Sound Reduction in Business Aviation.

Our Unique Approach :
Unlike other manufacturers of Aircraft Sound Proofing, we follow a unique approach which offers a turn-key solution to our customers. Our approach simply considers that the sound problems are different from one aircraft to another. Therefore, we develop a solution according to the specific requirements of each aircraft.

We start by understanding the sound problem which usually involves that one of our acoustical sound experts visit the aircraft. We follow that by developing the preliminary solution that is provided to our designers to prepare the detailed drawings for the sound insulation. The process for manufacturing the Sound Kits is exclusive to A.I.M.S. and follows the FAA, TC and EASA latest standards and regulations. The final step in our unique approach is to assist in the installation of the sound-proofing on the aircraft and finally conduct a sound survey to verify that the sound levels meet the customer’s requirements.

The first kit was installed on a new Global Express. The sound level was reduced from 56 SIL to 49 SIL. More than 20 Global Express aircraft have opted for the A.I.M.S. supplemental sound reduction kit. In all cases there have been improvements of at least 3 SIL after installing the kit.

The kit was also installed on a newly completed Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) where the results in the bedroom were as low as 46.5 SIL. The airplane was so quiet that the customer had another completion center, Lufthansa, redo all the tests and the numbers were identical.

Flame Test Results:
Flame test results were conducted by an independent testing organization, and the results exceed the requirements of FAR 25.853. The material would not support combustion. It actually reacted as a fire blocker. Subsequent testing for the new requirement FAR 25.856 Part A and B was just as impressive. Part B requires a flame of 2,000 degrees to be applied directly on the material for 4 minutes without penetration, the material was tested up to 5 minutes with no burn-through, and extremely low heat flux was observed behind the sample. Maximum heat flux was less than 0.1 BTU/ft2 sec, which very low considering that the requirement allows for 2.0 BTU/ft2 sec.

Replacement of the Complete Soundproofing:
This was primarily at the request of the customers to comply with the new FAA requirement of FAR 25.856. The duration of the installation of the full replacement of sound-proofing is one week, with no special tooling required? The drawings and installation manuals are developed so that they are easy to understand, and simple to use.
